אֲשִׁיר לִכְבוֹד חֲבֵרִים, וּבְרֹאשָׁם מַלְכָּם אָרִים, בַּר יוֹחָאי עוֹקֵר הָרִים, וְדוֹרֵשׁ טוֹב לְעַמּוֹ.
נֶחְתָּם בְּכֶתֶר תּוֹרָה, כְּלוּלִים בּוֹ עֲשָׂרָה, רְאוּ נָא בָּעֲטָרָה, שֶׁעִטְּרָה לוֹ אִמּוֹ. כָּבִיר בְּנוֹ אַחֲרָיו, רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר אַשְׁרָיו, נִכְנַס בָּא בַּחֲדָרָיו, שֶׁל הַמֶּלֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹה. יָקִיר עִם זְכוּת אָבוֹת, הִשִּׂיג מַעֲלוֹת רַבּוֹת, נִגְלוּ לוֹ ל"ב נְתִיבוֹת, בָּהֶם רַבִּים יַחְכְּמוּ. יָדִיד בְּעוֹז תִּתְאַזֵּר, רַבִּי אַבָּא חָזַר, הוּא וְרַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, אֲחוּזִים בְּיָהּ שְׁמוֹ. עָלָה לְעִיר גִּבּוֹרִים, בָּהּ חֲמִשִּׁים שְׁעָרִים, מִשָּׁם יוֹצְאִים נְהָרִים, וְיִתְהַלְּכוּ לָמוֹ. קוֹ חֶסֶד קָנָה, רַבִּי יְהוּדָה חָנָה, וְהָעוֹלָם בּוֹ בָּנָה, עוֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם בִּמְרוֹמָיו. בָּזֶה הוּא רֹאשׁ קְדֻשָּׁה, רַק לֹא בָּא אֶל שְׁלֹשָּׁה, אַךְ נִכְבָּד מִן הַשִּׁשָּׁה, הָיְתָה מִשְׂרָה עַל שִׁכְמוֹ. אִישׁ גִּבּוֹר בְּסוֹד תּוֹרָה, רַבִּי יִצְחָק הָאָרָה, מִדָּתוֹ הִיא גְּבוּרָה, צְפִיחִית בִּדְבַשׁ טַעֲמוֹ. בְּפִיהוּ אֱמֶת נֶחְתָּם, רַבִּי יוֹסֵי בֶּן יַעֲקֹב תָּם, עֵץ הַחַיִּים בּוֹ נֶחְתָּם, הִיא תִּפְאֶרֶת עֻזּוֹ. יָשָׁר רַבִּי חִזְקִיָּה, בַּנֶּצַח נַפְשׁוֹ חָיָה, גַּם הוֹד בּוֹ כָּלוּל נִהְיָה, הַמָּשָׁל וָפַחַד עִמּוֹ. חָבְרוּ רַבִּי יִיסָא, הוֹד וְהָדָר בּוֹ נִמְצָא, מִדָּה טוֹבָה בָּהּ יִשָּׂא, לְרֹאשׁ סֻכַּת שְׁלוֹמוֹ. צָבוּאוֹת בָּהּ נִצְמָדִים, שְׁנֵיהֶם יַחַד דּוֹדִים, הֵם וָוֵי הָעַמּוּדִים, יָשָׁר יֶחֱזוּ פְּנִימוֹ. יְסוֹד בְּרַבִּי חִיָּיא, כָּאן נִמְצָא וְכָאן הָיָה, מִשָּׁם יוֹצֵאת תּוּשִׁיָּה, אֲמָרוֹתָיו כִּי נָעֲמוּ. | |
Translation:I will sing in honor of friends, led by King Aryim, Bar Yochai uproots mountains, and demands good for his people.

Information:The poem "אשיר לכבוד חברים" ("I will sing in honour of friends") was composed by Rabbi Yaakov Abuhatzeira, an eminent Moroccan kabbalist of the 19th century. This poem is traditionally sung during the celebration of Lag BaOmer, in honour of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yohaï and his disciples.
The poem is structured in 17 stanzas, each composed of four verses. Each stanza highlights one of the ten disciples of Rabbi Shimon, associated with the ten sefirot (aspects of divinity) in Kabbalah. For example, Rabbi Shimon is associated with the crown (Keter), his son Rabbi Elazar with wisdom (Hokhma), and so on. | |
