Translation:

1 A Psalm of David. Ascribe unto the LORD, O ye sons of might, ascribe unto the LORD glory and strength.
2 Ascribe unto the LORD the glory due unto His name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; {N}
the God of glory thundereth, even the LORD upon many waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild-ox.
7 The voice of the LORD heweth out flames of fire.
8 The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and strippeth the forests bare; {N}
and in His temple all say: 'Glory.'
10 The LORD sat enthroned at the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth as King for ever.
11 The LORD will give strength unto His people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. {P}

Translation:

Lord of the universe who reigned before anything was yet was created:

At the time when all things were made by His desire, then was His Name proclaimed King.

And after all things shall have had an end, He alone, the dreaded One, shall reign;
He was, He is, and He will be in glory.

And He is One, and there is no second to compare to Him, to consort with Him:

Without beginning, without end: to Him belong strength and dominion.

Without valuation, without resemblance, without change or substitution.

Without addition, without separation, with great strength and valor.

And He is my God—my Redeemer liveth and—a rock in my travail in time of distress;

And He is my banner and my refuge, the portion of my cup on the day when I call.

And He is a doctor a healer, and a watcher and a helper.

Into His hand I commend my spirit, when I sleep and when I wake;

And with my spirit, my body also: the Lord is with me, and I will not fear.

My soul will be revealed in his temple. Our Messiah he will send quickly.

Now Let us sing, in my holy house, Amen Amen, the Awesome Name.

Translation from the Authorized Daily Prayer Book by Simeon Singer, published in 1890 (now in public domain), with user-contributed added verses for the Mizrahi version.

Translation:

I will greaten Your [reputation], God of all souls, and I will praise You with abundance of fear and awe.
In my standing within Your congregation, forever to exalt; to You I will kneel and lower my head and stature.
The firmament of heights, hasn't He planted [it] with [just a] grunt?—and the land, [he] established it on nothingness.
Is a man able [to] investigate the secret of his creation? And who is He Who is in every location?
He is praised by every mouth and tongue, which He miracled and made each in His wisdom.
And His [reputation] is exalted by a sacred and lofty nation; and may His Great Name be sanctified in the world!

Information:

Ahot Ketana is a piyyut written by R' Avraham Hazan which is recited in the Sephardic tradition (and some others) immediately before the Arvit (evening) service of the first night of Rosh Hashanah. In it, the Jewish people, likened to a "little sister," prays that the old year and its curses end, and the new year and its blessings begin.

Improved and corrected Hebrew text contributed by Yosef Ozer.

Translation:

It is our duty to praise the Lord of all things, to ascribe greatness to him who formed the world in the beginning, since he hath not made us like the nations of other lands, and hath not placed us like other families of the earth, since he hath not assigned unto us a portion as unto them, nor a lot as unto all their multitude. For we bend the knee and offer worship and thanks before the supreme King of kings, the Holy One, blessed be he, who stretched forth the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, the seat of whose glory is in the heavens above, and the abode of whose might is in the loftiest heights. He is our God; there is none else an truth he is our King; there is none besides him; as it is written in his Law, And thou shalt know this day, and lay it to thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

We therefore hope in thee, O Lord our God, that we may speedily behold the glory of thy might, when thou wilt remove the abominations from the earth, and the idols will be utterly cut off, when the world will be perfected under the kingdom of the Almighty, and all the children of flesh will call upon thy name, when thou wilt turn unto thyself all the wicked of the earth. Let all the inhabitants of the world perceive and know that unto thee every knee must bow, every tongue must swear. Before thee, O Lord our God, let them bow and fall; and unto thy glorious name let them give honor; let them all accept the yoke of thy kingdom, and do thou reign over them speedily, and for ever and ever. For the kingdom is thine, and to all eternity thou wilt reign in glory; as it is written in thy Law, the Lord shall reign for ever and ever. And it is said, And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall the Lord be One, and his name One.

Translation:

O Lord, with the greatness of thy powerful right hand, we pray to thee to loosen those that are bound in captivity. Accept the cry of thy people; exalt and purify us, O thou who art tremendous!

O most powerful God! We beseech thee to preserve, as the apple of thine eye, those that seek thee. Bless, and purify them, and continually requite them according to thy merciful righteousness.

Thou, who are most mighty and holy! Guide thy congregation with thy abundant goodness. Thou, who art unique, and most excellent, regard thy people, who continually make mention of thy holiness.

Accept our prayers, and hearken to our cries. O Thou! To whom all secrets are known.

Translation:

Psalm 84:5

Happy are they that dwell in Thy house, they are ever praising Thee. Selah.

Psalm 144:15

Happy is the people that is in such a case. Yea, happy is the people whose God is the LORD.

Psalm 145:

1 A Psalm of praise; of David. I will extol Thee, my God, O King; and I will bless Thy name for ever and ever.
2 Every day will I bless Thee; and I will praise Thy name for ever and ever.
3 Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall laud Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts.
5 The glorious splendour of Thy majesty, and Thy wondrous works, will I rehearse.
6 And men shall speak of the might of Thy tremendous acts; and I will tell of Thy greatness.
7 They shall utter the fame of Thy great goodness, and shall sing of Thy righteousness.
8 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
9 The LORD is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works.
10 All Thy works shall praise Thee, O LORD; and Thy saints shall bless Thee.
11 They shall speak of the glory of Thy kingdom, and talk of Thy might;
12 To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glory of the majesty of His kingdom.
13 Thy kingdom is a kingdom for all ages, and Thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.
14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all wait for Thee, and Thou givest them their food in due season.
16 Thou openest Thy hand, and satisfiest every living thing with favour.
17 The LORD is righteous in all His ways, and gracious in all His works.
18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.
19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him; He also will hear their cry, and will save them.
20 The LORD preserveth all them that love Him; but all the wicked will He destroy.
21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD; and let all flesh bless His holy name for ever and ever.

Translation:

To you (Israel), it was shown to you that Hashem is the Almighty, there is nothing else besides him.
There is none like you amongst the powerful, Hashem, and there is nothing like your deeds.
That this God (Hashem), our God, be with us, just like he was with our fathers, he won't abandon us, he will not leave us.
Save your people and bless your inheritors; shepherd and elevate them until eternity.
And it was from the Aron (ark) that Moshe said: Stand up (stop) Hashem, and your enemies shall disperse, and let the ones who hate you flee from you.
Stand up Hashem to your place of rest (The Beit Hamikdash), you and the Aron (ark) of your power.
Your saintly priests (Cohanim) will wear righteousness (saintly garments) and your devotees (Leviim) will sing.
Because of David your servant, do not return empty the face of your Messiah (David or Shlomo)

Translation:

I will fly away and rest, wandering far
I will sleep in the desert and perhaps find my lover

His loving kiss burns in my heart
My heart has been bitter since the day he left

I will fly away and rest, wandering far
I will sleep in the desert and perhaps find my lover

My love has run from me, left me
Which way did he take – I too will follow it

I will fly away and rest, wandering far
I will sleep in the desert and perhaps find my lover

I went out to find my lover among friends
I was caught in a trap, the watchmen hit me

I will fly away and rest, wandering far
I will sleep in the desert and perhaps find my lover

I watched for my lover, when will he come to me,
Dress me in my jewels and have mercy on me?

I will fly away and rest, wandering far
I will sleep in the desert and perhaps find my lover

Bare Your arm to gather the scattered ones
Reveal Your final salvation and raise Your banner

I will fly away and rest, wandering far
I will sleep in the desert and perhaps find my lover

Get up, my unique one, and return in repentance
My sister, my love, Your redeemer is coming

I will fly away and rest, wandering far
I will sleep in the desert and perhaps find my lover

Desirable and precious, often thought of
More valued than gold, go out and dance for joy

I will fly away and rest, wandering far
I will sleep in the desert and perhaps find my lover

I have remembered the kindness of your youth
I will build your Temple on sapphire foundations

I will fly away and rest, wandering far
I will sleep in the desert and perhaps find my lover

My beloved's voice is coming, skipping over the mountains
Get up, my love, the final redemption is coming

I will fly away and rest, wandering far
I will sleep in the desert and perhaps find my lover

Translation:

Bar Yochai, you are anointed - you are praised! -
[with] oil of joy above your fellows.

Bar Yochai, sacred oil of anointing,
You were anointed from the holy level,
You carry the sacred frontlet headdress,
Your crown is set upon your head.

Bar Yochai, you settled a good settlement
On the day of your escape, [the] day that you fled,
In the cave of stones that you stood [in],
You acquired your glory and your majesty.

Bar Yochai, trees of acacia [are] standing,
The teachings of HASHEM are they learning,
Light of wonder, [by] light of the blaze are they ablaze;
Are not they your lessons [from] your teachers?!

Bar Yochai; and to the orchard of apples
You ascended, to collect [from] within it fragrances;
The Secret of Torah is like blossoms and flowers.
"Let us make man," They said in your passing.

Bar Yochai, you dressed in might,
and in [the] war of the Law-fire of the gate,
And a sword you extracted [and] whetted it;
You drew it against your oppressors.

Bar Yochai, to [the] place of stones of marble,
You arrived before the roar-reigning lion,
Also earned your laurels against the bear,
Whilst crowned, you rose over the Bear [constillation],
[and] Perceived - and who shall perceive you?!

Bar Yochai, in [the] Sacred of the Sacreds.
[The] Green line renews months,
Seven Sabbath-weeks, secret of fifty.
You knotted; [the] knots of Shin are your knots!

Bar Yochai, The preceding Yud of wisdom,
you perspected toward its inner honor,
Thirty-two paths of the first of [the] tithe,
Like a cherub, [you are] anointed with the radiance of your aura.

Bar Yochai, light of wonder in lofty heights
you feared to gaze [at], for transcendence is by it!
Hidden, (so much that) ‘Naught’ is called to it.
You spoke that [an] eye [can] not perceive you.

Bar Yochai, fortunate is your birther,
fortunate is the nation [which] they are your learner,
And fortunate are the [ones who] stand on your secret,
Wearers of [the] breastplate of your perfection and your illumination.

Bar Yochai, may his merit protect over us,
And over all our brothers [of] Yisra’el,
That he should come and redeem us
In a hurry; and we say: Amen!

Bar Yochai!

Translation:

There is none like our God: none like our Lord. There is none like our King: none like our Savior.

Who is like our God: who is like our Lord? Who is like our King: who is like our Savior?

We will give thanks unto our God: we will give thanks unto our Lord. We will give thanks unto our King: we will give thanks unto our Savior.

Blessed be our God: blessed be our Lord. Blessed be our King: blessed be our Savior.

Thou art our God: thou art our Lord. Thou art our King: thou art our Savior.

Thou art the one before whom our ancestors made the fragrant offering of incense.

Translation:

A most honorable God, I shall greet him
With singing and praise, I will come before his dwelling
And like Moses and Aaron he will lead me
To his abode.

He will lend his ear and hear my voice
And will forgive me from above, and help me
He wil listen to the words of my mouth
And won't turn away from my activities

God will lift up the groom, and his bride,
In the merit of the mighty father, and his righteousness
And will crown Queen Rachel
As Solomon in his kingship

Translation:

God of awe, God of might, God of awe, God of might,
Grant us pardon in this hour, As Thy gates are closed this night.

We who few have been from yore, Raise our eyes to heaven's height,
Trembling, fearful in our prayer, As Thy gates are closed this night.

Pouring out our soul we pray That the sentence Thou wilt write
Shall be one of pardoned sin, As Thy gates are closed this night.

God, our refuge strong and sure, Rescue us from dreadful plight;
Seal our destiny for joy, As Thy gates are closed this night.

Grant us favor, show us grace; But of all who wrest the right
And oppress, be Thou the judge, As Thy gates are closed this night.

Generations of our sires Strong in faith walked in Thy light.
As of old, renew our days, As Thy gates are closed this night.

Gather Judah's scattered flock Unto Zion's rebuilt site.
Bless this year with grace divine, As Thy are closed this night.

May we all, both old and young, Look for gladness and delight
In the many years to come, As Thy gates are closed this night.

Michael, Prince of Israel, Gabriel, Thy angels bright,
With Elijah, come, redeem, As Thy gates are closed this night.

Translation:

To you I call out, Yahh, awesome Él:
Remember the vine the nations have scattered, Awesome Él.

Let Yisrael’s plea be accepted, by the One who dwells on high.
Let her youthfulness be renewed forever;
Shall your sighing people be rejected forever?
Crying out from the depths, is there no help, awesome Él?
To you I call out, Yahh, awesome Él:

They will defeat the enemy, Their hand ascendant;
For they consume Yisrael’s fruit and are not weakened.
Send forth against them with anger, wrath and retribution,
so that the nations call you “Awesome Él.”
To you I call out, Yahh, awesome Él:

Exalted: remember the covenant made with the one who dreamed a dream.[1]
Increase his offspring and grant him endless peace.
Accept his people and grant favour to their progeny.
How long must they be a lamb gone astray, awesome Él?
To you I call out, Yahh, awesome Él:

May the day be soon when your Temple is rebuilt–
the people will rejoice when your presence dwells in it.
They shall recite a song and a psalm before you.
For you shall prevail over the world, awesome Él.
To you I call out, Yahh, awesome Él:

Translation:

Sephardi:

Cause us to lie down, O our Father! in peace; and raise us up, O our King! to a happy and peaceful life. O spread thy pavilion of peace over us, and direct us with good counsel from thy presence! and save us speedily, for the sake of thy name. O shield us, and spread thy pavilion of mercy and peace over us.

Blessed art thou, O Lord! who spreadest thy pavilion of peace over us, and over thy people Israel, and Jerusalem. Amen.

Ashkenazi:

Cause us to lie down, O Lord our God, in peace; and raise us up, O our King! to life.

O spread thy pavilion of peace over us, and direct us with good counsel from thy presence! and save us speedily, for the sake of thy name.

O shield us, and remove from us enemies, pestilence, the sword, hunger, and sorrow. And remove the evil from before us and behind us, and shelter us in thy wings' shadow.

For thou art our protector and savior, for thou art a gracious and merciful king. Guard us in our goings and comings, for life, and peace, for now and forever more.

And spread thy pavilion of peace over us. Blessed art thou, O Lord! who spreadest thy pavilion of peace over us, and over thy people Israel, and Jerusalem. Amen.

Translation modified from the above translation by Leeser to match the Ashkenazi version.

Translation:

All creatures, whether in heavenly inclines or earthly confines
Gather together to witness and proclaim:
"The Lord is one and one is His Name"

A human is a labyrinth of 32 diversions
To contemplate Your mystery is to make all these features striking
But the human is alas no more than a version
You are El, the unique King.

Hearts turn inward and thereby reflect upon
creation;
It is only in the world, not You,
that there is variation
By count, and mass all is finite and measurable in animation
But by one Shepherd is all else a derivation

Your signs push beyond cognizable limits,
Beginning becomes an End/North is South, East and West press.
Heaven and Earth are faithful testament
Each entity in its unique way will profess

The totality is yours, all we are is You in extension
You exist eternally, while exasperated creatures recess.
Therefore all creatures bring Your splendor honorable mention
From alpha to omega, is there not one
Parent to strive to access?

Exalted above all blessing and glory
The cause of every cause and the catalyst of every catalyst
He has no beginning and no end and no conclusion
Hear O Israel, The Lord is one and one is His Name.

Demons dwell in the heavens above
To Him belongs the sea and the dry land and the wilderness
Creator of mountains and creator of all creation
Creator of heaven and earth, will stand as one.

The God who creates Heavens with his word.
The heroes of power do his bidding.
He commands the potter and his light will not shine.
With Him the strength, authority, and fear.

Translation:

A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures:
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul:
He leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Death,
I will fear no evil: for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies:
you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Adapted from 1917 JPS Translation

Information:

This Psalm is sung on several occasions during Shabbos, but it is usually also sung mournfully as the daylight fades at the end of the day of rest.

Translation:

1 A Psalm, a Song. For the sabbath day.
2 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto Thy name, O Most High;
3 To declare Thy lovingkindness in the morning, and Thy faithfulness in the night seasons,
4 With an instrument of ten strings, and with the psaltery; with a solemn sound upon the harp.
5 For Thou, LORD, hast made me glad through Thy work; I will exult in the works of Thy hands.
6 How great are Thy works, O LORD! Thy thoughts are very deep.
7 A brutish man knoweth not, neither doth a fool understand this.
8 When the wicked spring up as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they may be destroyed for ever.
9 But Thou, O LORD, art on high for evermore.
10 For, lo, Thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, Thine enemies shall perish:
all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
11 But my horn hast Thou exalted like the horn of the wild-ox; I am anointed with rich oil.
12 Mine eye also hath gazed on them that lie in wait for me,
mine ears have heard my desire of the evil-doers that rise up against me.
13 The righteous shall flourish like the palm-tree; he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
14 Planted in the house of the LORD, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.
15 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap and richness;
16 To declare that the LORD is upright, my Rock, in whom there is no unrighteousness.

Translation:

1 O sing unto the LORD a new song; sing unto the LORD, all the earth.
2 Sing unto the LORD, bless His name; proclaim His salvation from day to day.
3 Declare His glory among the nations, His marvellous works among all the peoples.
4 For great is the LORD, and highly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are things of nought; but the LORD made the heavens.
6 Honour and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
7 Ascribe unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the peoples, ascribe unto the LORD glory and strength.
8 Ascribe unto the LORD the glory due unto His name; bring an offering, and come into His courts.
9 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth.
10 Say among the nations: 'The LORD reigneth.' The world also is established that it cannot be moved;
He will judge the peoples with equity.
11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof;
12 Let the field exult; and all that is therein; then shall all the trees of the wood sing for joy;
13 Before the LORD, for He is come; for He is come to judge the earth;
He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples in His faithfulness.

Translation:

Then his children beheld his might. They praised and gave thanks unto his name and willingly accepted his sovereignty. Moses and the children of Israel sang a song unto thee with great joy, saying, all of them:

(Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the mighty ones? Who is like unto thee, glorious in holiness, revered in praises, doing wonders?)

This is part of the friday evening service before Amida.

The tunes are interchangeable with "Mimitzrayim" of the corresponding blessing in the Shaharit service.

On Shabbat Shuva, this can be sung to the tune of "Yah Shema` Evyonekha", a well-known Yom Kippur piyyut.

Translation:

The cry of the poor do You hearken, [to] the exclamation of the indigent You listen and save [him]. And it is written, "Rejoice, O ye righteous, in The LORD; for the upright, praise is comely." (Psalms 33:1).

With the mouth of the upright shall You be extolled; and with the lips of the righteous shall You be blessed; and with the tongue of the pious shall You be sanctified; and in the midst of the sacred shall You be praised.

Information:

This lovely praise song is part of the morning Shabbat and Yom Tov service which we all sing with lots of joy and emotion as we approach the Shema. Two vertical acrostics spell out the names יצחק and רבקה.

Found after "Nishmat Kol Hai", in lieu of "Mi dome lakh... ha'El be ta`atzumot `uzzekha... shokhen `ad..." in the Ashkenazic liturgy.

Toward his head will He command mighty blessings, and he will travel at all times like a river of peacefulnesses; he will absolutely come in celebration, carrying sheaves; he will merit and he will see [the] Salvation of G-D.

[May] my groom rejoice in the congregation of my conviction; [may he] carry blessing from HASHEM.

Translation:

Moses rejoiced in the gift of his portion.
And what did you give him?
A diadem of glory you placed upon his head.

Moses rejoiced in the gift of his portion.
And what did you call him?
You called him a faithful servant.

Moses rejoiced in the gift of his portion.
And what did he carry in his hands?
In his hands he brought down the two tables of stone.

Translation based on The Standard Prayer book by Simeon Singer (1915) (public domain), with changes to reflect the structure of the song.

Information:

The refrain is taken from the fourth paragraph of the Shabbat morning Amida.

Translation:

My thoughts praise You, Adonai, my shepherd, on this holy seventh day.

On the day on which you finished all of your work,
I say that you rule over all around you.
No deeds can cancel you out;
Rush to comfort me, son of your maidservant.

You chose the seventh day out of all counted days,
and it you sanctified in weeks and years,
Rush what you bear to the children of the faithful,
And redeem from misfortune my going and resting.

Be pleased with my rest on this day of rest,
And on my day of work bring me prosperity,
And prepare for my [day of] cessation gift and meal,
And may joy and happiness be my delight.

Make me worthy of a world which is all Shabbat,
And with your shining lamp provide me light,
And up to the sanctuary of Shilo raise me,
Answer me quickly, God of my salvation.

Yona-thi ziv

יונתי זיו

Yonati ziv yifatech, damah lichsil vechimot.
Va-ani leahavatech, ashir shir al alamot.
Nava mikol alamot, nava mikol alamot.
Nadedu litshukatech meafafei tenumot.
